About 'Understanding Alcohol Harm'
Background
Under the “Towards 2025: Strategy and Action Plan to Prevent and Control Non-communicable Diseases in Hong Kong” (“SAP”) announced in 2018, the HKSAR Government has pledged by 2025, to achieve at least 10% relative reduction in the prevalence of binge drinking and harmful use of alcohol (harmful drinking/alcohol dependence) among adults and in the prevalence of drinking among youth, among other targets.
The ‘Understanding Alcohol Harm’ education campaign is part of Government’s actions to reduce alcohol-related harm under the SAP. The campaign uses a mass reach social marketing approach targeting the general public to strengthen public literacy about harmful health effects of drinking in Hong Kong.
Aim
The “Understanding Alcohol Harm” campaign is all about:-
- Providing evidence-based information on alcohol and health;
- Raising public awareness on the potential health risk of alcohol consumption; and
- Facilitating members of the public to make an informed choices for better health.
