Over 8200 students from 44 secondary schools participated actively in the programme. |

Department of Health spoke at “Healthpedia” – Alcohol Related-harms Representative from Department of Health attended a radio program “ Healthpedia” on RTHK Radio 1. Alcohol-related harms to teenagers were shared with the hosts of the program, Mr. Theo Shum and Ms. Akina Fong Kin-yee. Parents should not encourage children and teenagers to drink alcohol. |

“ Young and Alcohol Free - Health Educational Talk”- Civil Aid Service Trainers Training The Department of Health organized a “Train the trainer” session on “Young and Alcohol Free-Health Educational Talk” at the headquarters of the Civil Aid Service (CAS) on 15 January 2019. In total 146 CAS Cadet Corps officers and instructors attended the training session. They would disseminate the messages of alcohol-related harms and “ Say no to alcohol” to 4 000 CAS Cadet Corps members in coherence with “ Young and Alcohol - Health Educational Talk”. |

Director of Health, Dr Constance CHAN and Head, Surveillance & Epidemiology Branch , Centre for Health Protection, Dr Regina CHING visited Hong Kong Cancer Day 2018 in Tsim Sha Tsui Kowloon Park Plaza. Guests, healthcare professionals and celebrities showed their support to “Young and Alcohol Free” game booth which was devoted by the Department of Health (DH). Members from Auxiliary Medical Service (AMS) Cadet Corps and Hong Kong Red Cross Youth & Volunteer Department participated actively and helped to disseminate the message of “Alcohol-related Harms” to the pubic to get rid of “Alcohol”. |

The Dutiable Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2017 (“the Bill”) was introduced by the Food and Health Bureau to Legislative Council in June 2017. It aims to prohibit the sale or supply of intoxicating liquor to minors in the course of business. The Bill seeks to restrict minors' access and exposure to alcohol thereby reducing their risk of developing alcoholism, and protect health of the youths and their family. The Bill was passed in February 2018 by the Legislative Council and will be enacted in about 6 months (effective date will be announced later). |

Alcohol Fails “Drink or not Drink? Be Informed!” New Video Alcoholic beverage has been classified by the World Health Organization as Group one Carcinogen, which can cause over 200 disease and injury conditions. There is no safe drinking level. People should not drink alcohol for the sake of improving health. Non-drinkers are advised not to start drinking while drinkers should gradually decrease their drinking to reduce harm. Under the following circumstances, people should not drink, for example, pregnancy, children and youth, ill, on drug treatment, driving, before and after exercise, etc. |

Pregnancy drinking affects craniofacial development of fetuses An Austrlian study conducted a craniofacial phenotype analysis of 415 children, which showed that any alcohol consumption has consequences on craniofacial development, such as special facies or anomalies. These consequences are associated with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Therefore, complete abstinence from alcohol while pregnant is the safest option. |
