Dr Constance CHAN, Director of Health, announced the launch of a public education campaign echoing the theme of World Health Day 2013 - High Blood Pressure with the slogan "Is your blood pressure normal? - High blood pressure kills but its preventable and treatable"
Dr Donald LI, President of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, appealed to members of the public to partner with their family doctor for early detection and management of hypertension, and dispelled myths about hypertension
Dr Y Y HO, Consultant of Centre for Food Safety, advised on the prevention of high blood pressure by reducing dietary sodium intake
The campaign gained wide support from organisations in the health-care sector
Dr Constance CHAN, Director of Health, speakers and representatives from the supporting organizations took a group photo with a blood pressure cuff on their arms to encourage the public to conduct blood pressure check regularly
