Location where injuries occurred by gender

Analyzed by gender according to the Unintentional Injury Survey 2018, a higher proportion of injury episodes in females was sustained at home (33.5% vs. 21.3% for injury episodes in males) and in transport area: public highway, street or road (24.3% vs. 21.8% for injury episodes in males). On the other hand, sports or athletics area (14.7% vs. 3.7% for female counterparts) and industrial or construction area (14.0% vs. 0.5% for female counterparts) were a more frequently reported place of occurrence of injury episodes in males.

Among all injuries, 21.3% and 33.5% occurred at home; 21.8% and 24.3% occurred in transport area (road); 9.4% and 11.0% occurred in commercial area; 6.3% and 12.1% occurred in recreational area; 14.7% and 3.7% occurred in sports area; 14.0% and 0.5% occurred in industrial or construction area; 3.9% and 5.3% occurred in transport area (others); 5.3% and 3.4% occurred in school;  2.0% and 3.2% occurred in countryside and 1.2% and 2.8% occurred in other locations for male and female respectively.
