Proportion of elders aged 65 and above eating 2 or more servings of fruit*on average a day, 2003-2004

Based on Department of Health's Population Health Survey 2003-2004, 21.0% of local elders aged 65 and above ate ≥2 servings of fruit on average a day. The corresponding figures for males and females were 21.8% and 20.3% respectively.
Base : 1 006 community-dwelling elders aged 65 and above.
Note : *1 serving of fruit = 1 orange, apple or pear, etc.

Proportion of elders aged 65 and above eating 3 or more servings of vegetables* on average a day, 2003-2004

Based on Department of Health's Population Health Survey 2003-2004, 2.6% of local elders aged 65 and above ate ≥3 servings of vegetables on average a day. The corresponding figures for males and females were 2.2% and 2.9% respectively.
Base : 1 006 community-dwelling elders aged 65 and above.
Note : *1 rice-bowl size of cooked vegetables = 2 servings of vegetables.

Proportion of elders aged 65 and above eating 5 or more servings of fruit and vegetables* on average a day, 2003-2004

Based on Department of Health's Population Health Survey 2003-2004, 16.9% of local elders aged 65 and above ate ≥5 servings of fruit and vegetables on average a day. The corresponding figures for males and females were 15.5% and 18.2% respectively.
Base : 1 006 community-dwelling elders aged 65 and above.
